Celebrating World Hydrography Day 2021
Watch our short video to see how the UK Hydrographic Office has collaborated across the international hydrographic community over the past 100 years.
Marking 100 years of international cooperation
Today (21 June) marks World Hydrography Day 2021. This year's theme celebrates "100 years of international cooperation in hydrography" and marks a century’s progress in knowledge and technology, thanks to global partnerships across the hydrographic community.
To celebrate this theme, we have created a short video to showcase the UK Hydrographic Office’s rich history of partnerships. This includes the 140 collaborative partnerships established across the globe and our Primary Charting Authority responsibilities for 71 coastal states, to the work carried out through our International Hydrographic Programmes and International Training.
By strengthening these partnerships, together we look forward to the next 100 years of international cooperation in hydrography.
The UK Hydrographic Office has a rich history of partnerships since its formation in 1795.
About World Hydrography Day
World Hydrography Day is celebrated annually on 21 June, with a different theme each year. It was first introduced by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) to highlight the importance of hydrography and the work of hydrographers across the world.
