Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some of our PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards. For example, they may not be structured in a way that makes them accessible to a screen reader. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships). We plan to provide HTML versions of existing PDFs linked from frequently accessed and important pages. We plan to review PDF use across all pages and, where possible, provide HTML alternatives by the end of 2022.

How we tested this website

Accessibility Testing Approach at UKHO documents show how we plan to improve accessibility on this website and all our products and services.

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.1 level A and level AA to test how accessible www.admiralty.co.uk is.

In May 2023, the Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC) conducted an audit of a representative sample of pages on www.admiralty.co.uk, from which common accessibility issues across the website were identified.
